Residential Counselor Job Description
This position will implement individual treatments and providing High-Risk Intervention (HRI) services daily. Employee will be trained and privileged to provide HRI services. Employee is required to provide therapeutic modeling and treatment interventions to enhance the child’s level of functioning. Residential Counselor will provide crisis and behavioral management, monitor the self-administration of medication to clients and will document in medical records according to the standards. The Residential Counselor ensures that each resident has opportunities to learn and participate in activities of daily living and how to live a normal life.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure client confidentiality
Ensure and protect client rights
Provide supervision to clients to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
Be knowledgeable of client’s individual client treatment plan/goals
Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions with clients
Will assist emotionally and behaviorally disturbed residents with routine, daily living activities in a healthcare home/facility.
Administer medication to clients as ordered
Accurately completes required documentation (Service notes, incident reports, medication administration log, etc.) in a timely manner
Provide scheduled transportation for clients to school. Activities, shopping etc.
Assist and prepare meals for clients as indicated on the planned menu
Ensure group home is clean and in order at the end of the shift
Be knowledgeable of Children Under Construction policies and procedures
Ensure the implementation of the group home treatment program (rules/consequences, client group sessions, level system, etc.)
In-house peer review, treatment team meetings and participation as assigned
